General Description

This position provides junior software engineering support to the AF Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) Program Office’s Requirements (XR) group at Robins AFB, GA.  The successful candidate works with a team of senior engineers and architects supporting the analysis of portfolio requirements and development strategies and assisting in the identification of solutions for incoming user requirements for the DCGS portfolio.  The candidate will participate in the creation of integrated systems designs, traceability matrices, technical reports, documentation, and dependency mapping and help transform the way DCGS integrates with the IC, C/JADC2, and ABMS, and uses technology, including cloud migration, integrating advanced technology, and modernizing legacy systems.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following:

  • Partner with senior architects and engineers and working groups and assist them in developing solutions to user requirements considering existing plans and roadmaps that support a “future view” of technology implementation.

  • Use knowledge and understanding of systems engineering concepts and apply them to existing and new user requirements, working with senior architects to develop recommendations for requirements implementation within the DCGS portfolio.

  • Perform research on the use of complex information systems capabilities such as artificial intelligence, modeling languages, process automation, and cloud computing and provide this to senior architects to assist them in determining how to apply these new technologies to satisfy user requirements.

  • Perform research in the application of advanced engineering methods to IT systems including Networks, Infrastructure, Platform Services, Software Applications, etc.

    Specialized Knowledge

    The successful candidate will have knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

  • Systems engineering concepts.

  • Ability to understand and assist senior architects in applying advanced engineering and architecture methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical challenges, aligning software applications, services, platforms, and networks.

  • Knowledge of Project Management, Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Financial Management, and Change Management frameworks to process modeling, IT management, and architecture activities is not required but a plus.

     

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields of study .

    Professional Certifications

    None.

    Clearance                                                               

    Top Secret Security clearance required.

    Experience

    0-3 years experience working in Systems Engineering concepts, requirements management, or architectural integration for IT Systems. Knowledge or experience with the DCGS portfolio is a plus but not required.  

     

    U.S. Citizen or Similar

    Must be a U.S. Citizen

    Other Characteristics (e.g., Personal or Language)

    Excellent oral, written, and communication in English. Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other companies, Government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members.

    Working conditions, including location

    A combination of remote and at least one to two days each week on-site at Robins AFB, GA.

    Client duty hours are Monday through Friday.
