Job Description:

The VP manages ABA’s Voter Education Program (VEP), a multi-million-dollar program designed to raise public awareness about policy issues of concern to the banking industry and to profile industry champions.

This position requires significant fundraising expertise and seasoned political instincts as they will drive and oversee all elements of compliance and reporting requirements to develop a calibrated approach in support of the banking industry. The VP will work closely with inside and outside counsel, senior-level ABA colleagues, ABA’s Executive Office, VEP Advisory Council, and ABA’s State Association Alliance. The position will also require extensive engagement with ABA’s CEO, Board, and other C-Suite level bankers to raise money and increase participation in VEP.

Key Duties:

• Responsible for program strategy, oversight, and direct responsibility for all operations of the VEP including:

  • Fundraising

  • Vetting of opportunities and investments for maximum impact

  • Developing ads for independent expenditures and electioneering communications

  • Compliance with the Federal Election Commission, Lobbying Disclosure Act, and Internal Revenue Service working in concert with ABA’s Finance team, and internal and outside counsel

  • Vendor relationships and management

  • Administrative budget management

  • External communications

• Serve as Committee Liaison to the Voter Education Advisory Council. Recruit and manage volunteer leadership and manage meetings and calls.

• Coordinate with Office of Strategic Engagement teammates, ABA-State Association Alliance, ABA Congressional Affairs team/Policy division, ABA Executive Office, and other stakeholders to maximize success.

• Other duties as assigned by business needs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or commensurate experience.

• 10-15 years in political/campaign/fundraising positions, ideally with experience directly in independent expenditures and electioneering communications.

• Trade association experience preferred.

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing political environment.

• Ability to maintain professional neutrality in a bipartisan environment.

• Full understanding of campaign finance law and FEC regulations.

• Experience managing a team is strongly preferred.

• Background in project and relationship management, meeting planning, and budget management

• Experience managing outside vendors.

• Ability to juggle multiple personalities and priorities, internal and external stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.

• Ability to travel (<20-50%).
