In Corporate Operational Risk, our purpose is to govern, oversee, and continually improve the operational risk program through supporting and challenging business partners and raising risk awareness and understanding to improve risk based decision making. This opportunity will work with the Data Risk Management (DRM) program as it seeks to lead operational risk management efforts, in collaboration with the first-line Global Data organization, by providing a holistic view of data governance risk and maturity of the firm relating to how the firm handles one of our most important assets, our data.
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Team Manager of Data, Infrastructure and Reporting within the Operational Risk Management department of Charles Schwab, this role will provide in depth reporting expertise across multiple disciplines and functions, including Data Risk Management. This person will work closely with Data Risk Management Leadership to define and develop appropriate reporting on organizational measures including Key Performance and Risk Indicators using tools such as Tableau. The successful candidate will have demonstrated data analysis skills, and an advanced level skillset in data visualization. The role must be able to communicate effectively with the DRM and ORM Leadership team and will engage with the team regularly to deliver management reporting and process improvement projects. This is a technical reporting and analytics role that requires excellent teamwork, communication, and leadership skills to be successful.
Activities will include:
Design and execute processes for the collection of data including but not limited to: reviewing existing processes and data availability, and building extracts;
Design, develop and fine tune published dashboards and reporting that is readily available to team members and DRM leadership
Effectively manage data analysis and reporting projects, as assigned, by leadership
Identify opportunities to use data to drive enhanced business decision making and promote a data-driven culture
Ensure data quality and consistency for all developed dashboards and reporting.
Partner with colleagues and subject matter experts to maintain and update an expansive set of reports, dashboards, and data sets/processes.
Provide first-level support, troubleshooting production issues and bugs.
Partner closely with support teams on the scheduling, automation, monitoring, and triage of various reporting applications and technology solutions.
Monitor upstream dependencies—data and/or system—to anticipate changes to downstream reporting applications.
Collaborate with technology partners to develop tools and processes to monitor the complete inventory and health of our various systems, reports, and dashboards.
Leverage knowledge of reporting landscape to raise opportunities to gain efficiencies through the consolidation and/or elimination of redundant data, objects, and/or reports that only serve to increase technical debt.

What you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Analytics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields
3+ years of experience, knowledge of Tableau products (Tableau desktop, Tableau server, Visualization) with development and implementation experience
2+ years of experience using complex SQL through Teradata, Oracle, or other databases in a large-scale data warehouse environment.
Must have a thorough understanding of relational databases and architecture
Knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines desired
Exceptional reporting skills to access combine and analyze multiple data sources (strong comfort level with advanced formatting, formulas, graphs, pivot tables, etc.)
Provide appropriate training, mentoring and support for Tableau and other BI tools to other analysts and business users. Facilitate communication upward and across project teams
Extremely strong problem-solving skills
Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability in communicating with different business partners;
Strong mathematical, analytical, and organization skills
Experience in an environment where demands and methods are constantly changing;
Self-motivated and able to bring projects to conclusion;
Ability to manage and execute against multiple initiatives;
Risk Management experience is desirable;
Business Continuity experience is desirable
Moderate Excel skills including Visual Basic
