Reporting to the Corporate Operational Risk team with a dotted line to Charles Schwab Bank and Charles Schwab Trust Company, the Operational Risk Liaison will oversee and challenge the design, implementation and maintenance of operational risk practices within assigned business unit(s). Activities will include overseeing the maintenance of key risk profiles, risk and control self-assessments, loss data collection, key risk indicator monitoring, risk appetite monitoring, scenario analysis, and other components that may support the operational risk management (ORM) framework.
What you’ll do:
Oversee the operational risk data provided by business units for use in risk identification, assessment and monitoring operational riskactivities
Partner with the business to identify, assess, monitor and control their existing and emerging operational risk
Challenge the effectiveness of the business' risk response
Oversee and challenge the content of business produced materials in support of the ORM Framework
Assist with overseeing the escalation of operational risk issues in accordance with framework requirements
Assist with oversight and challenge of the design, implementation, and maintenance of business processes and controls to manage relevant risks
Provide advice and guidance to business managers regarding risk and the design of controls.
What you have:
3+ years experience in operational risk management, audit or similar role.
Risk management principles, methodologies and tools, and governance principles and activity in a financial services environment.
Independent judgment with strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
Proficiency in operational risk data management and analysis, in particular, the ability to incorporate and understand mass information from a variety of sources to recommend a course of action.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability in communicating with senior executives;
Self-motivated, able to bring projects and reporting to conclusion.
Strong interpersonal skills/ability to develop relationships with peers in business unit and central risk management group
