As a Managing Director within SCS, you’ll serve as a strong and versatile leader forming an internal application security department responsible to architect, design, develop, build, evolve and run an overall application security program and capabilities that positively impact our clients and those who serve our clients. You’ll exercise your expertise with enterprise IT operations, systems monitoring, software development, DevOps, and third party software providers to bring a holistic application security perspective to complex security challenges.
What you’ll do:
The Managing Director will develop, grow and manage our application security program and capabilities focusing on reducing risk, adding value and defining metrics that drive the right behaviors, priorities and process improvement. The MD will also make recommendations regarding these key metrics, security technology and operational processes to make improvements and ensure the application security team is executing the strategy fully.
Information Security is seen as a strategic partner to the business, and in this role you will establish cross collaborative relationships with security and technology leaders, business partners and key partners across Schwab Technology Services (STS). This will include active partnership with STS leaders, Information Security Risk Management, Human Resources, Finance, Operations and others. The individual will lead coordinated efforts with team members and cross-functional partners. This role is for someone with strong organizational skills and the ability to overcome obstacles to successfully execute on multiple projects and efforts simultaneously.
Leveraging your leadership experience in software engineering, your department will deliver innovative, secure, and reliable strategies and solutions to safeguard our clients’ data, their future, and our brand by identifying highly technical risks within systems and applications and enable creative solutions to remediate them.
Collaborating with partner organizations and creating capabilities spanning the entire SDLC including non-functional requirements, security user-stories, source code testing and scanning, threat modeling, training and education and driving/enabling automation to continuously test and improve the efficacy of Schwab’s application portfolio, control environments, detecting failing controls and providing automated reporting to accelerate secure coding practices, shift left security and audit engagements.
As a seasoned IT Operations leader and avid process improvement practitioner, you’ll lead and leverage current and evolving technologies to enable secure by design software, automation and efficiency of application security processes delivering automated solutions freeing human labor from repetitive tasks Through your proven ability to lead and mentor, you’ll attract, grow, and retain top industry talent.
What you have:
We are looking for adaptable, talented people leaders who have a strong hands-on development or technology background:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience desired; Masters degree preferred
10+ years of IT leadership across Operations, Software Engineering, and Software Development roles.
5+ years of people management, leading highly technical individual contributors and subordinate people managers.
Proven leadership delivering Enterprise secure software development, testing and validation capabilities and practices.
Experience with and knowledge of ITSM, DevOps, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile/Scrum, and NIST methodologies.
Expert familiarity with OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 20 and prevention/remediation techniques.
Ability to fully support security maturity in all phases of the SDLC
