Our Opportunity:

Our goal in Global Payroll Operations is to provide accurate and timely compensation to all employees while complying with legal and regulatory requirements, to include and not limited to, tax filing and monthly reconciliation. In addition, we deliver a seamless user experience by leveraging the Employee Experience Guiding Principles. This is accomplished through the adoption and promotion of employee self-help tools, automation and constant review of service levels.

What you’ll do:

The Payroll Tax Manager is responsible for managing all payroll tax activities, including creation of policy and procedures, internal and external tax audits, vendor oversight, system updates, project management, while complying with all Federal, State, and Local tax regulations. The Payroll Tax Manager will work closely with Corporate Tax, Stock Plan Services, Compensation, Benefits, HRIS and Payroll Staff on intricate tax projects, and provide guidance and direction on tax related topics/issues. This role will interact directly with employees at all levels of the organization and provide expertise on tax withholding.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with payroll tax reporting and withholding responsibilities.

  • Manage and partner with external outsourced service providers for Payroll Tax. Monitor service level agreements, conduct regularly scheduled status meetings with account rep, ensure all open items are addressed timely, and annual service review meetings are conducted.

  • Ensure tax returns, not processed by outsourced vendor, are completed and accurate to avoid tax penalties.

  • Correspond with Federal, State and Local agencies immediately when issues are identified in order to mitigate penalties, and if needed, negotiate abatements.

  • Oversee the preparation and provide authorization of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of Federal, State and Local withholding, as well as all tax wires.

  • Manage and successfully implement tax initiatives/projects associated with new legislation, annual W-2s, mergers/acquisitions, associated system and applications, and/or enhancements to existing processes or functionality (includes policy development to manage risk and exposure; system upgrades, enhancements and patches); including requirements analysis and documentation, design/build oversight, testing and deployment.

  • Effectively partner with other departments to ensure needs are met through effective and documented requirements, test plans, implementation plans, operating procedures and controls.

  • Work cross functionally with Compensation and Stock vendor to ensure proper tax treatment and processing of stock options. This includes review and updates to daily file integrations, as well as the review and set up of new tax groups for employees in new locations, and the audit and reconciliation of all files to ensure all wages have been reported accurately, and are taxed appropriately.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a concentration in Business Administration, Tax, Accounting or Economics

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in payroll tax for a large, multi-state employer preferred

  • A comprehensive understanding of payroll tax and the statutory environment to include US local, federal, and multi-state tax laws and regulations

  • Familiar with Long and Short Term Incentive Programs, Relocation, Expats/Inpats

  • Experience with payroll software and data querying - Familiarity with Workday, ADP, PeopleSoft preferred. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel required.

  • Proficient use of PC applications , including Microsoft Word and Excel (e.g., V-lookups, pivot tables, and mathematical formulas); Access is a plus

  • Business Acumen - Understand the company’s business goals and objectives; the business process, and impact of individuals and groups on business performance; able to recognize, understand and deal with complex payroll/financial situations
