Do you want to be part of a Big Data team driving cutting edge platform capabilities to service Schwab’s growing analytical and operational data needs? The Global Data Technology organization is a highly skilled and passionate team that explores new ways to leverage our data as a strategic asset. Through hands-on initiatives with our business partners we contribute to the company’s customer experience, revenue and profitability.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with solution delivery\infrastructure\architecture teams to build out data platforms (MapR, Teradata, Tableau, SAP Business Objects, etc.) Tenant Governance framework.

  • Drive the Tenant Governance process including operating model from beginning to end with clear guidelines.

  • Partner with data governance team (classification, lineage, security and life cycle mgmt.) to build an effective Tenant Governance framework adoption.

  • The individual is also expected to contribute to Schwab’s journey to mature Continuous Delivery processes.

  • Lead the team to develop Tenant Governance standards (Capacity, Workload, Security, and Upgrades etc.).

  • Partner with the data platform vendors to explore out of the box Capacity, Workload reports\dashboards.

  • Guide (hands-on) the team to develop utilities\scripts for proactive monitoring\alerting.

  • Develop a strong understanding of Global Data Technology, our products, target audiences, business goals and sales objectives.

  • Work with team leads across the organization to design and implement process improvement.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

  • Experience with implementing Tenant\Data Governance best practices.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, keeping projects on schedule and on budget.

  • Excellent judgment and the ability to handle stressful situations.

  • Work well in a geographically dispersed team environment.

  • Experience in leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills that focus on influence and accountability, prioritization, negotiation, facilitation, time management and issue resolution.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and the business.

  • Strong, attentive listening skills with the ability and experience in leading meetings.

  • Must be self-motivated, as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.

Solid working knowledge with the following technologies is highly desirable:

  • Deep hands-on understanding of big data platform (MapR, Teradata etc.).

  • Experience with Hadoop data governance (classification, lineage, security and life cycle mgmt.).

  • Experience with implementing system monitoring tools (Zenoss or Splunk or AppDynamics) and processes.
