At Schwab we have a very robust and Operational Continuity [OC] / Disaster Recovery operating framework. That includes satisfying myriad inquiries and audits attesting to our capabilities related to business requirements. We are in the middle of altering that framework to truly ensure that resilience is part of the core to everything that we do. You will have the opportunity to have an immediate tactical impact as well as be key resource shaping the future of Operational Continuity.

What you’ll do:

As a manager of people in our organization, you will work closely with Operational Continuity team mates, direct reports, as well as planning and testing participants from across the organization. You will be the key focal point relating to testing coordination, preparation, and execution. You will be the Product Owner for Operational Continuity testing service offering. You will interface with the Scrum Master to define and document Epics, Releases, and Sprint Planning. As a managerial contributor in Operational Continuity you will expected to lead by example throughout the entire organization and be the voice of organization when occasion dictates. You will also be expected to drive thought leadership regarding adapting or changing OC processes in support of modernization initiatives as they occur. You will become to be viewed as a successor to the department head.

What you have:

7+ years of demonstrated current experience dedicated to disaster recovery operations and management 5+ years of systems engineering experience Must have substantial experience leading technical teams in the delivery of services as an individual contributor and a people manager 5 years of delivering results using an Agile Framework [must be comfortable representing the Product Owner, creating and maintaining backlogs, etc.] Must have well-groomed soft-skills and be comfortable and effective speaking and presenting in front of executive management Well-developed and sound project management skills developed in managing and staffing large projects Must have in-depth understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures, and mainframe architectures as well as knowledge of crisis communication solutions Strong time management and organization skills Demonstrated success in developing and implementing business continuity program life cycle plans and source deliverables (e.g. risk assessments, BIA’s, continuity planning) is essential Experience establishing, managing, and communicating with Business Partners to cultivate strong partnerships Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills Thorough knowledge and understanding of current disaster recovery and reliance planning techniques and technologies, as well as the methods used in performing risk and business impact analysis Understanding of elementary IT network principles is critical Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to convey plans, exercises, and activities. Ability to plan, organize, and lead the testing of emergency response, recovery support, and business resumption procedures MS Office Suite, MS Project, Visio SharePoint or Database experience a plus Financial Services Industry and Audit / Regulatory experience a plus Continuity Planning accreditation is a plus Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred Responsibilities include, but are not limited: Contribute to the development and maintenance of the team’s 3 – 5 year strategic plan Own the movement of work through the Operational Continuity Testing and Validation Team Establish and maintain the overall process for executing all DR testing activities with a full understanding of interdependencies Deliver ongoing feedback regarding risk management, mitigation, and prevention Liaise with the IT technical staff to ensure disaster recovery solutions are prepared, acceptable, maintained, and tested as part of a consistent operational life cycle Continually improve DR testing and reporting processes utilizing lasted information and technologies available A thorough understanding of all required testing for successful DR execution and evaluation of improvement options A thorough understanding of testing processes utilized to validate the disaster recovery plans Lead DR testing exercises, inclusive of tabletop exercises, simulated exercises, and full DR testing Regularly report Disaster Recovery exercise results to upper management as required
