The SAN Systems Engineer is a mid-level role in the Storage group, within the Hosting Organization of the larger Technology Infrastructure Solutions department at Schwab. The SAN Team is responsible for Storage Fabrics consisting of Fibre Channel Directors and Switches from Brocade and CISCO, Block Storage from EMC, Hitachi, and PURE, as well as support of VMWare and the Backup and Recovery teams. The majority of Schwab's applications are dependent on our infrastructure, so understanding and being able to troubleshoot the myriad of touch points is vital.
What you’ll do:
The SAN Systems Engineer must have experience with a combination of hardware and tools supporting; Brocade, CISCO, EMC, Hitachi and PURE storage. The SAN Systems Engineer will be responsible for cooperative efforts with team members, leading project efforts independently, servicing customer requests, performing currency upgrades to hardware/software, and assisting during Disaster Recovery Tests. The Senior Engineer will also be responsible for knowledge of industry best practices, recommending future direction, as well as maintaining and creating automation in the environment. Typical shift will be from 9 am to 5 pm, but expected to cover night and weekend work, as well as the On-Call support on a rotating basis for a week at a time.

Dependability, Responsibility, Persistence, Customer Focus, Self-Starter (mandatory to work independently)
Strong Communication Skills, including mentoring of Staff
Ability to install and maintain vendor tools including Brocade, CISCO, EMC, PURE, and Hitachi
High level skills in Storage Performance across all product lines,
Experience with those Vendor tools (GUI), as well as in use of the command line,
Some experience in the use of, as well as maintenance of, OCI would be a plus,
VMWare, Object Storage, and Cloud experience a major plus
Experience with Systems Administration on Windows and/or Unix preferred
Scripting (Perl, Shell, etc.) skills a major plus
Bachelor or Associates Degree
