Air National Guard Units AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32) in Whiteman AFB, Missouri

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WS-8852-10 AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0734000 and is part of the MO 131st Bomb Wing. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a non-bargaining position. This position is also advertised on AGR Announcement #AF24-049. Responsibilities Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determines skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Makes adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Notes and investigates work related problems and independently implements corrective actions. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Counsels employees on problems. Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Maintains production reports and records. Initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions. Performs the non-supervisory work of the function as needed. Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be AFSC qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Maximum Military Grade - SMSgt (E-8) Minimum Military Grade - MSgt (E-7) immediately promotable to SMSgt (E-8) Enlisted - AFSC 2A3XX, 2A590, 2A5X1, 2A5X4, 2A6XX, 2A8X1, 2A8X2C, 2A8X1C, 2A8X1E or 2A8X2E Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education or training which demonstrates your ability to provide technical assistance and organize assignments for subordinates; estimate materials and manpower needed for specific jobs; read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and technical publications; and maintain records and reports. WS-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months of specialized experience which demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors. Experience reviewing work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines; knowledge of various lines of work performed by the function and associated support organizations and dealing effectively with other people. Experience supervising through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate, skill at applying human relations techniques, knowledge of general supervisory concepts, knowledge of shop processes; and adapt existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Must currently possess or have held AFSC 2AXXX. Education This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
