Job Description

An employer is seeking a Platform Reliability Engineer with experience in OpenShift and/or Rancher Kubernetes-based platforms to sit 100% remote for one of our largest defense customers in the Fortune 500. This individual will be responsible for the support and maturation around ongoing platform operations using both Rancher and OpenShift Container Platform. The role will also involve partnering with other product-based teams across multiple infrastructures and restricted networks. This role does NOT require an active DoD Security clearance, but the ideal candidate comes from experience operating in restricted networks within Department of Defense (DoD) environment(s).

The role will include daily operations and platform/system reliability engineer responsibilities to ensure the OpenShift and Rancher platforms are healthy and available across cloud and on-premises infrastructures. Additionally, this individual will drive standard processes, governance, and consistency across clusters and platforms. Additional responsibilities will include:

• Support and maintain both Rancher and OpenShift Container Platform across data centers, AWS GovCloud and closed area networks

• Work with teams managing infrastructure, networking, and application development to forecast capacity, scaling and demand

• Ensure platforms are effectively monitored and meet availability SLAs

• Resolve platform issues and implement change management processes

• Support application customers by installing, maintaining, administering, and managing servers and network systems

• Leverage monitoring tools and management dashboards integrated into cloud platforms with best practice notifications and response processes

• Collaborate with IT operations teams to support platform hosted applications

• Recommend process improvements, and identify optimization opportunities

Skills and Requirements

• 3+ years experience in Production Operations, Platform Support and/or Site Reliability (SRE)

• 2+ years experience troubleshooting, supporting, monitoring Rancher and/or OpenShift Container Platform

• 2+ years experience with Kubernetes

• Certified Kubernetes Admin

• Ability to obtain a secret clearance - Experience operating in restricted networks within DoD, federal or government sector

• Container-as-a-Service (CaaS)

• Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) null
