CVS Health Sr Manager - Application Engineering in Woonsocket, Rhode Island

Position Summary The Sr. Manager - Engineering is responsible for the techno-functional impact analysis, design & code construction activities of software development for Retail Pharmacy systems releases, strong technical and functional skills are key to perform this role successfully. The current list of systems includes multiple applications including, but not limited, to the Tier 1 systems for Retail Pharmacy. Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional IT experience

  • 5+ years software development and requirement analysis, design experience

  • 5+ years successfully working in IT projects in an Agile development methodology

  • Works with a sense of urgency in completing tasks and resolving issues to deliver a quality project on time and within budget

  • Experience of working on multiple IT projects on varying technology stacks especially cloud-based technologies (Azure, GCP)

  • Proven experience as a software Designer and Developer in understanding business requirements and translating into software solutions

  • Development experience for projects delivered via Waterfall, Agile, and/or XP methodologies

  • Need someone who is hands on solution design and best coding practices

  • Worked in traditional Infrastructure as well as Cloud based deployment environments

  • Experience in modern programming languages and cloud-based technologies.

Technology

  • 3+ years of experience with Azure, GCP or other public cloud services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), SaaS application development/support, CI/CD practices, containerization, Kubernetes, and Agile/DevOps methodologies.

  • Strong technical proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python

  • Familiarity with React JS or other front-end frameworks; ability to develop effective engineering practices and processes.

  • Worked as Full Stack Developer with experience on building mission critical /highly scalable application with large user/infrastructure footprint

  • Extensive experience on Monolith to Microservices Migration

  • Extensive experience of the Cloud Native Development practices and 12 factor apps development

  • Extensive experience of Microservices Patterns ( Eventual Consistency Pattern, Asynchronous event messaging ,Anti -Corruption Layer, Adapter , Saga, Kappa design pattern)

  • Familiarity with GraphQL/gRPC.

  • Expert Java programming knowledge on latest JDK versions, Spring framework

  • Knowledge of open-source packages especially those provided by Apache, Google, and Spring

  • Database knowledge – SQL, NoSQL, table structure, data relationships

Leadership

  • 5+ years of proven experience in product engineering leadership roles

  • Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems.

  • Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel. They need to be able to effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to meet their goals.

  • Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details, as a minor error can result in major problems.

  • Plan strategies for the development of designs and products on schedule and on budget

  • To take part in software and architectural development activities, conduct software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging

  • Identifying production and non-production application issues

  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, stakeholders, and contractors

  • Prioritize, delegate, and supervise all engineers’ activities and deliverables

  • Manage, support, and evaluate engineers’ performance

  • Hire new talent for the team and offer coaching and development opportunities

  • Provide input in strategic technical decisions and solutions, when needed

  • Build the entire technical documentation and project roadmaps

  • Develop, test, implement and maintain application software

  • Recommend changes to improve established java application processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and influencing technical and strategic decision-making.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to product development and optimization.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Rally, or equivalent product engineering collaboration tools.

  • A passion for innovation, with a customer-centric mindset focused on delivering exceptional user experiences.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related Technical field or comparable work experience required

  • Masters in Computer Science related program preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $247,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
